What it costs

Website cost for a plumber, salon, clinic, or restaurant in Canada

Website cost for plumbers, salons, clinics, and restaurants in Canada: the build barely changes by trade. Booking for 1 location runs $0 to $99 CAD a month.

Line drawing of 4 storefronts in a row, a plumber's workshop, a salon, a clinic, and a restaurant with a gold awning, each with an empty browser window above it, in ink on bone paper.

In Canada, a website costs about the same to build for a plumber, a salon, a clinic, or a restaurant. 1 Calgary agency publishes $1,000 to $4,000 CAD for basic to premium builds (Code Web Canada, retrieved 2026-10-02). What the trade changes is the one job the site must do, and the monthly tool behind that job.

That tool is where owners get surprised. Booking and intake software runs $0 to $99 CAD a month for 1 location or practitioner (Square to Jane, retrieved 2026-10-02). On Uber Eats, a restaurant pays 20% to 30% of every delivery order (Uber Eats, retrieved 2026-10-02). For the general price question, start with how much a website costs in Canada.

The short version

  • The build price follows features and hours, not your trade. One-time Canadian builds are published from $1,000 CAD (Code Web Canada), and subscription builds from $599 CAD setup plus a monthly fee (Elevate Web Design).
  • Plumbers need a quote request and service-area pages. Field software like Jobber starts at $29 USD a month on annual billing (Jobber).
  • Salons need booking. Square Appointments has a $0 plan and a $35 CAD a month plan (Square).
  • Clinics need booking plus intake that protects health data. Jane starts at $59 CAD a month (Jane).
  • Restaurants on Uber Eats pay 20% to 30% per delivery order (Uber Eats). Ordering on your own site costs card fees instead.

Why the build price barely changes by trade

A website is priced by the hours it takes, and hours follow features, not the sign on your door. A web designer in Canada earns a median of $33.65 CAD an hour (Job Bank Canada, updated November 2025). A 5-page site for a plumber and one for a salon take about the same hours.

The published ranges show it. Code Web Canada lists $1,000 to $2,000 CAD for a basic site and $3,000 to $4,000 CAD for premium (Code Web Canada, retrieved 2026-10-02). Elevate Web Design lists $599 to $2,995 CAD setup plus $69 to $199 CAD a month (Elevate Web Design, retrieved 2026-10-02). Neither prices by trade.

The trade decides 2 things: the one feature the site cannot fail at, and the software that runs it. This table puts the 4 side by side.

Business type The job the site must do The tool behind it Published price of the tool
Plumbers and home trades Quote requests, service areas, tap to call Jobber Core $29 USD a month on annual billing, 1 user
Salons and barbers Online booking Square Appointments or Fresha $0 or $35 CAD a month (Square), $29.95 CAD a month (Fresha Independent)
Clinics Booking plus private intake Jane $59 to $99 CAD a month
Restaurants Menu, hours, ordering Square for Restaurants, delivery apps $0 or $60 CAD a month, or 20% to 30% per delivery order

Prices from each vendor's own pricing page, retrieved 2026-10-02: Jobber, Square Appointments, Fresha, Jane, Square for Restaurants, and Uber Eats.

1. Plumbers and home trades: the quote request is the website

A plumber's site can sit at the low end of published ranges, because it needs no calendar and no cart. It needs a quote form that accepts photos, a tap-to-call button, and 1 page per service and area. Those service pages do the work, since customers search "plumber" plus their neighbourhood.

Google lets a business that travels to customers hide its street address. In Google's words, "You should only choose to not show your address if your business is a service-area business" (Google Business Profile Help). Your website's area pages should match the areas on that profile, and our Google Business Profile setup guide for Canada covers the settings.

The monthly tool is field software, and it is optional at the start (prices retrieved 2026-10-02):

  • Jobber Core: $29 USD a month on annual billing, $49 USD month to month, 1 user. Extra users are $29 USD each (Jobber).
  • Housecall Pro Basic: $59 USD a month on annual billing, $79 USD monthly (Housecall Pro).

Both publish in USD only. A form that emails you the request costs nothing extra.

2. Salons and barbers: booking starts at $0 to $35 CAD a month

A salon site is a booking button with a gallery around it. Do not pay to build a booking calendar. Embed the one your booking software already provides, and the build stays at the price of a simple site.

The booking software is the real line item, priced per location in Canada (retrieved 2026-10-02):

  • Square Appointments: Free at $0 CAD, Plus at $35 CAD a month, Premium at $85 CAD a month. Online card payments cost 2.8% plus $0.30 CAD (Square).
  • Fresha: Independent at $29.95 CAD a month, or $19.95 CAD per team member on the Team plan. New clients found through its marketplace carry a one-time 20% commission, minimum $6 CAD (Fresha).

A worked example: Square Plus at $35 CAD a month is $2,100 CAD over 5 years. That is more than a basic one-time build at $1,000 to $2,000 CAD (Code Web Canada), so price both together.

Link the same booking page from your Google Business Profile, where Google lets you add a link to book an appointment (Google Business Profile Help).

52% of small businesses surveyed by CFIB actively use Google Business Profile or Google Maps (CFIB, December 2025).

3. Clinics: booking plus intake that protects health information

A clinic site costs more to plan than to build. The booking works like a salon's, but the intake questions are health information. Canada's privacy regulator lists health data among the information that "will generally be considered sensitive and require a higher degree of protection" (Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada).

The practical rule: keep intake inside your clinic software, not on a plain contact form that lands in an inbox. Your website links to the booking and intake. It does not collect health details itself. Your own privacy obligations are a question for your regulator or a lawyer.

Jane, built for Canadian clinics, publishes these monthly prices (Jane, retrieved 2026-10-02):

  • Balance: $59 CAD, 1 practitioner, capped at 20 appointments a month.
  • Practice: $79 CAD, 1 full-time practitioner included.
  • Thrive: $99 CAD, 1 full-time practitioner included.

Jane also sells its own website add-on at $59 CAD a month per clinic (Jane). That is the comparison to make before paying anyone for a build.

5-year cost of the booking or ordering tool behind the site Over 60 months at published monthly prices: Fresha Independent for a salon costs 1,797 dollars, Square Appointments Plus for a salon costs 2,100 dollars, Square for Restaurants Plus costs 3,600 dollars, and Jane Practice for a clinic costs 4,740 dollars. All figures in Canadian dollars, prices retrieved 2 October 2026. 5 years of the tool behind the site Published monthly price times 60 months, in CAD $1,000 $2,000 $3,000 $4,000 $5,000 $0 $1,797 $2,100 $3,600 $4,740 FreshaIndependent(salon) SquarePlus(salon) Square forRestaurants Plus(restaurant) JanePractice(clinic) Source: each vendor's published pricing page, retrieved 2026-10-02

Over 5 years, the tool behind a clinic or restaurant site can cost more than the site itself.

4. Restaurants: the menu is cheap, and ordering is where the money goes

A restaurant site needs a menu as real text, hours, and a way to order. The menu and hours cost almost nothing. The ordering decides your real cost, because delivery apps take a share of every order.

Uber Eats publishes its Canadian marketplace fees per order (Uber Eats, retrieved 2026-10-02):

  • Delivery: 20% on Lite, 25% on Plus, 30% on Premium.
  • Pickup: 10% with validated in-store pricing, otherwise 15%.

Ordering on your own site swaps that share for card fees. Square Online charges 2.8% plus $0.30 CAD per online payment (Square, retrieved 2026-10-02). You then handle delivery yourself, or offer pickup only.

Fee on one 40 dollar order, by ordering channel On a 40 dollar order: Uber Eats Premium at 30 percent takes 12 dollars, Uber Eats Plus at 25 percent takes 10 dollars, Uber Eats Lite at 20 percent takes 8 dollars, Uber Eats pickup at 10 percent takes 4 dollars, and an order on your own site through Square Online at 2.8 percent plus 30 cents costs 1.42 dollars. Restaurants are also a trade where some agencies publish build prices. WebsiteWork.ca lists restaurant packages at $2,497, $3,997, and $5,997 CAD (WebsiteWork.ca, retrieved 2026-10-02). They start above a basic build because they bundle menu and ordering features, not because the client is a restaurant. Square for Restaurants adds a point of sale at $0 or $60 CAD a month per location (Square, retrieved 2026-10-02).

On Google, your profile can carry a menu and a food ordering link (Google Business Profile Help). Point that link at your own ordering page, not the app.

What pushes the build price up in any trade

The same 4 things raise a quote whether you fix pipes or plate dinners. Ask for each one as its own line in writing.

What raises the quote Why it costs more Ask for it as
Building what a tool already does A custom calendar or cart takes far more hours than embedding Square, Fresha, or Jane "Embed our booking tool"
A second language Every page, form, and email is written twice A price per language
Content you do not have Copywriting and photos are separate work A separate line for each
Accessibility rules In Ontario, a business with 50 or more employees must meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA (Government of Ontario) The standard named in the contract

Builder plans are the other route. Wix runs $17.77 to $159.77 CAD a month on annual billing, GST included (Wix, retrieved 2026-10-02). Squarespace runs $21 to $109 CAD a month on annual billing (Squarespace, retrieved 2026-10-02). Our 5-year cost comparison of custom vs Wix and Squarespace runs that math, and our pages on web design in Calgary and web design in Montréal cover the local side.

How we price a site for your trade

Samro Studios builds these sites, and builds are quoted per project as a written list. The quote names the booking or ordering tool you already pay for, so you do not pay twice for one job.

For trades that quote, like plumbers, the site can also give the price. The quoting agent gives your customers a real price in 2 minutes, on your site, by text, or by phone. It costs $249 a month (CAD in Canada, USD in the United States, taxes added where they apply), first month free, no commitment.

Our builds are on the portfolio, sorted by category.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a website cost for a plumber in Canada?

One-time builds for a basic Canadian site are published from $1,000 to $2,000 CAD (Code Web Canada). A plumber's site needs a quote form, service-area pages, and a call button, but no calendar or cart. Field software such as Jobber is optional and starts at $29 USD a month on annual billing.

Do I need to pay for booking software on a salon website?

Not always. Square Appointments has a free plan at $0 CAD per location, and its Plus plan is $35 CAD a month in Canada. Embed that booking page on your site instead of paying to build a calendar. Fresha's Independent plan is $29.95 CAD a month, with a one-time 20% commission on marketplace clients.

Can a clinic put an intake form on its website?

It can, but intake answers are health information, which Canada's privacy regulator treats as sensitive. The safer setup keeps intake inside clinic software such as Jane, from $59 CAD a month, and the website only links to it. Confirm your own obligations with your professional regulator or a lawyer.

Is it cheaper for a restaurant to take orders on its own website?

Per order, yes. On a $40 CAD delivery order, Uber Eats takes $8 to $12 CAD depending on the plan. Square Online's card fee on the same order is $1.42 CAD. Your own site brings no new customers and no driver, so the app can still earn its fee for reach.

Does a small business website have to be accessible in Canada?

Only in some cases. In Ontario, a business with 50 or more employees must make its public websites meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA, a rule in force since January 1, 2021. Smaller Ontario businesses are not covered by that website rule. An accessible site is still easier to use on a phone.

The decision

Pick the tool first, then the website.

  1. Choose the booking, intake, or ordering software that fits your trade.
  2. Check its published monthly price.
  3. Ask your designer to build around it, and compare quotes as written lists, not totals.
